Have you ever wondered how LA TAYA got its name? Let me share a story that’s as colorful as the designs I create—a story of travel, culture, and a little humor along the way.
I spent several incredible years living in Taiwan, a place that became a second home for me. Taiwan isn’t just an island; it’s an experience. It’s where I found inspiration in the vibrant traditions, incredible food (dumplings 🥟 and hot pot are my all-time favorites), and the warm-hearted people who left a lasting impression on me. Most importantly, it’s where my daughter was born—a moment that changed everything. ❤️
While I was there, I decided to create a Chinese name for myself. My name, Tanya, was transcribed into beautiful traditional Chinese characters: 塔亞 (TaYa). To make it even more special, I added 嚕 (Lu), inspired by my husband Lukáš’s name. That’s how my Chinese name 嚕塔亞 (LuTaYa) came to life.
Now here’s the fun part—did you know that 塔 (Ta) means “tower”? At 180 cm tall, I really felt like a walking tower on the streets of Taiwan! 🗼😂
When I started my brand, I wanted a name that carried a piece of my story, a name that reflected the journey I’ve been on. LA TAYA felt perfect—it’s more than a name; it’s a connection to my time in Taiwan, the cultural inspirations I cherish, and the love for creativity that I bring into every design.
